4th Annual Introduction to Clinical & Translational Research Study Design

A course presented by the Southern California Clinical and Translational Science Institute, the Departments of Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery and Preventive Medicine and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles

Course Goals

  • To provide a foundation in key components of clinical research design
  • To facilitate the development of students research protocols in preparation for foundation grant applications
  • To improve the reporting quality of clinical and translational research studies

Course Information

  • This course is designed for residents, fellows, and junior faculty as a practical introduction to clinical and translational research methods
  • Applicants must identify a research topic and faculty advisor
  • Tuition: $400
  • Enrollment is limited to the first 80 accepted applications

Course Format

  • Course will be held at HSC and CHLA campuses. Locations
    to be announced. Students can attend either location throughout the course
  • Watch pre-recorded lectures prior to class. Lecture discussions start at 9am, and small group breakout sessions are at 10:30am

Students and alumni will be eligible for a $1500 pilot research award
