This course was developed for interested residents, fellows, and interested faculty. It includes a combination of didactic lectures, discussion, and practical application of the concepts that enables each student to develop a research protocol on a topic of their choosing.  The course is demanding, but the results are worth it. A number of students have filed K grant or foundation grant applications using the protocols they developed in the course. All applicants will need to first apply and develop a research hypothesis. The SC CTSI team will notify applicants upon reviewing their research hypothesis if they are accepted into the course.

Integration of the course within existing training programs

Residents in the R3 year may enroll to develop a protocol for a study to conduct during their R4 research rotation or they may incorporate the course into a research rotation.
