The SC CTSI Clinical and Translational Research (CTR) mentored career development scholar program is pleased to announce that four new scholars were selected from among a number of competitive applications of highly accomplished junior faculty at USC and CHLA to receive the CTR Award beginning June 1, 2017.

“We are excited to bring in our 8th cohort of scholars, since 2010, to an innovative training experience  based on clinical translational research methodology, team science, career development, research ethics and with special emphasis on research in diverse populations” said Jonathan Samet, MD, MS and Cecilia M Patino-Sutton MD PhD, professors at the USC Keck School of Medicine and Directors of SC CTSI Workforce Development. The new scholars, comprising the eighth group are:

Frank Attenello, MD, MS, Asst Prof, Keck School of Medicine, Department of Neurological Surgery, USC

Sonali Saluja, MD, MPH, Asst Prof, Keck School of Medicine,  Department of Medicine, USC

Stefanie Thomas, MD, Asst Prof, Keck School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics, CHLA

Since 2010, a total of 34 junior faculty have received this mentored career development award. The CTR Scholars program is part of Workforce Development of the CTSI. The program offers training in clinical translational science, seminars devoted to research career development, and opportunities to present work in local and national settings. Program resources include salary support, access to core SC CTSI facilities, expertise and guidance in research design, measurement and questionnaire design, study coordination, data management, and biostatistical analysis.
