Clinical Research Coordinator
SC CTSI Role
Christy is a Clinical Research Coordinator at SC CTSI. She works with Principal Investigators at LAC+USC and USC with diverse urban and special populations focusing on various gastrointestinal and liver diseases and assists with patient recruitment and interviewing, data collection, biospecimen management, and data entry. She is also a certified translator English-Spanish.
Christy obtained her B.A in Sociology from San Diego State University. In her previous role prior to joining SC CTSI, she worked in the Department of Preventive Medicine in the USC REACH Lab that utilized remote sensing and communication technologies to understand the etiology of health behaviors related to chronic disease risk in children and adults, focusing on physical activity and nutrition. She worked closely with subject recruitment, as well as managing the collection, SPSS data management, and storage/shipping of various bio-samples. She has extensive experience with recruitment strategies and consent/assent process when working with children, administering in person and phone surveys as well as working closely with the Latino community in the greater Los Angeles area. Most recently, she is working on the Southern California Alcoholic Hepatitis Consortium with patients hospitalized at LAC+USC who suffer from alcohol liver disease.
She enjoys travel to see wildlife and the outdoors, spending time with her dog, and loves spicy foods
