Professional Background

Yessenia came to us as a recent graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, where she majored in Molecular and Cellular Biology. She interned at the University of California, San Francisco working as an undergraduate researcher for the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Sciences. She found an appreciation for clinical research and a passion for diversifying medical specialty fields. As an undergraduate, Yessenia spent ample time providing mentorship to students. Her dedication to and appreciation of the Biology Scholars Program, inspires her to serve her community in the future. Yessenia aspires to pursue a career in medicine, serve her community as a physician, and empower youth to pursue higher education. 

Interests

Outside of work, Yessenia enjoys Zumba as an excuse to dance her heart away and strength training at the gym to build her confidence.
