SC CTSI Role
Dario leads the Clinical Research Informatics (CRI) team, bringing together expertise in research operations, program management, and data ethics to advance clinical and translational science. He oversees a multidisciplinary team of software developers, analysts, and project managers, delivering next-generation informatics infrastructure that supports data-driven research aligned with institutional and national priorities.
Dario works closely with faculty, staff, and trainees to translate strategic visions into actionable initiatives, while managing day-to-day operations, training initiatives, and staff development. The CRI team provides robust informatics infrastructure that support all research at SC CTSI and Keck Medicine of USC. He is responsible for fostering and developing the partnership with CHLA, DHS, and CTSA Hubs to build networks and support research activities.
The CRI team has a vision to accelerate healthcare breakthroughs by empowering clinicians and researchers with seamless and secure tools and data which enable impactful interventions for all patients.

Professional Background
Dario Kuzmanović is a seasoned leader in clinical research informatics and research operations. His work centers on building and optimizing infrastructure that enables ethical, secure, and scalable use of health data, with a particular emphasis on participant-centered approaches, training and education initiatives, and long-term sustainability.
Previously, Dario served in the role Assistant Vice Chancellor at University of California, Riverside and as Executive Director for Clinical Research. He works closely with USC’s Health Data Research and Innovation Program (HDIP) and collaborates extensively with faculty and research stakeholders to integrate informatics into the full research lifecycle — from protocol planning and development to data capture, data management, analysis, and dissemination.
His academic grounding in ethics of research informs his focus on data stewardship, participant empowerment, and the responsible use of digital tools in health research. Prior to his current role, Dario held positions in clinical research, regulatory affairs, and business development in both the public and private sector in the US and Canada. He began his professional career at the University of Toronto and holds a Master of Health Science in Bioethics.
