This project addresses children’s environmental health by exploring how schoolyard greening initiatives can improve student health outcomes. It establishes partnerships between USC, community organizations, and school districts to develop multidisciplinary research at the intersection of environmental health and urban greening.

Specific Aims:

  1. To build a multidisciplinary collaboration between academic, community, and school partners focused on schoolyard greening and children’s health.
  2. To define a research agenda and develop a partner-informed impact plan for studying the health benefits of schoolyard greening.

Team Building Activities include:

  • Stakeholder conversations: The team conducts a series of meetings and roundtables with community partners, school districts, and organizations to define research scope, build partnerships, and co-develop a research impact plan. The planned activities will include a mix of virtual and in-person convenings (e.g., brainstorms, meetings, roundtables, or smaller discussions) to build relationships, engage partners, and define the scope of a future research proposal.
