Summary

This 60-minute forum discusses how ACCEPT-AI can help researchers and developers encode ethical values from the jump, avoiding harmful and embarrassing mistakes. Bioethicist and physician Dr. Alyssa Burgart will discuss ACCEPT-AI, a framework to develop and assess ethical inputs in Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML-driven) research in pediatric populations.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this forum, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize pediatric algorithmic bias as a unique risk to children.
  • Explain the generational impact of using pediatric data in AI/ML algorithms and the alternative impact of excluding children's data.
  • Identify how the data included or excluded in training AI/ML algorithms meaningfully impacts end users.
