OVERVIEW: SC CTSI has been working with USC’s Hollywood, Health & Society (HH&S), which has been providing advice on health topics to the television industry for more than three decades. In the current grant cycle, we worked with HH&S to get seventeen clinical trial storylines on ten television shows and general health topics on thirty-five shows. In the next grant cycle, we will (a) assess the impact on viewers’ attitudes and knowledge through social media and (b) target specific demographics with public service announcements, partnering with eight other hubs to identify regional health priorities.

GOALS: To establish broad public awareness about the importance of clinical research to promote participation and diversity.

CURRENT STATUS: We worked with our partners in USC’s Hollywood Health & Society to host five virtual panel discussions with COVID-19 experts for television writers and producers.

NIH Funding Acknowledgment: Important - All publications resulting from the utilization of SC CTSI resources are required to credit the SC CTSI grant by including the NIH funding acknowledgment and must comply with the NIH Public Access Policy.
