OVERVIEW: Investigators applying for their first grant might encounter difficulties along the way. The SC CTSI Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Research Design (BERD) core offers this 9-session course for early-stage clinician investigators to learn more about what is required in a grant proposal, with an emphasis on biostatistics and research design principles.

GOALS: To have trainees become familiar with the methodological considerations involved when designing a grant, including identifying a funding mechanism, choosing testable research questions, developing the study design and analysis portions of the grant, and anticipating common pitfalls.

CURRENT STATUS: The biweekly training program is currently offered annually in the spring semester (January through May).

More information about the program and requirements, including the syllabus and application, can be found on THIS PAGE.
