SC CTSI Role

Allison is a scientist and research development professional with a PhD in Neuroscience and an Executive MBA. She drives strategic initiatives and program development to advance the entire spectrum of health research. She helped shape key institutional resources like clinical research support services and the Southern California Healthcare Delivery Science Center, which offers innovation grants and multidisciplinary educational programs.

Allison currently leads two of CTSI's high-priority Translational Science projects: applying the Quality by Design framework to research studies for risk mitigation and leveraging popular media to drive public engagement in clinical research.

Professional Background

Prior to the SC CTSI, Dr. Orechwa worked as an Education Research Analyst in the Standards and Review Office of the U.S. Department of Education. She earned a PhD from USC in cognitive neuroscience with an emphasis on functional neuroimaging of the brain’s language and reading networks.  She also holds an Executive MBA from USC.
