SC CTSI Role

Dr. Jonathan Lam serves as the subject matter expert and provides guidance for our collaboration and data services between LAC DHS and SC CTSI. He offers consultation for USC faulty and collaborators on the data structure, feasibility, and processes in obtaining LAC DHS data for research.

Professional Background

Dr. Lam is a health services and health behavior researcher focusing on medically underserved populations in the Los Angeles County. He completed his PhD at USC focusing on pain management, his MPH at SDSU in epidemiology/biostatistics, and his BS at UCSD in biochemistry. Dr. Lam uses hospital data to understand how COVID-19 affected emergency department utilization, and survey data to examine factors associated with COVID-19 vaccine intention and mask wearing.

Interests

Dr. Lam loves outdoor activities, including hiking and going to the beach with his family. His favorite sports are basketball and ping pong, and he is learning to be a pickleball player. He also likes drawing and watching cartoons.
