The Research Success Teams (RST) program equips early career investigators with the skills they need to become independently funded. By participating in RST activities, investigators receive specialized support to aid them in preparing and submitting competitive proposals for career development and research awards. Email tepad@chla.usc.edu if you are interested in participating in this program.
Cohort Works in Progress meetings: We value peer support and recognize that investigators may have specialized needs depending on their career stage. To address this, the larger Research Success Teams participants are divided into distinct cohorts:
- Those aiming for NIH K Awards (K Cohort)
- Those who are K-funded, aiming for NIH R Awards (K to R Cohort)
We convene regular meetings of these cohorts to discuss upcoming submissions and to share their Works in Progress specific aims. Each WIP session is allotted 45 minutes for participants to read the specific aims, discuss and provide feedback. Drafts are encouraged and nothing needs to be circulated in advance. We intend for these sessions to be very informal and collegial. WIP sessions are co-facilitated by CHLA senior investigators.
The K Cohort meets as follows
- SECOND Wednesday of each month from 11-11:45 a.m.
- THIRD Wednesday of each month from 11-11:45 a.m.
The K to R Cohort meets as follows
- FIRST Wednesday of the month from 9-10:30 a.m.
- SECOND Wednesday of each month from 9-10:30 a.m.
Didactic Sessions: These sessions are open to all RST participants and occur virtually on a bi-weekly basis on Tuesdays or Thursdays from 12-1pm over the course of the year. The sessions are informal and serve as an opportunity for focused learning and discussion around specific topics related to grant preparation and submission. Upon joining RST, participants are added to the didactic series calendar invites.
Recordings from several past didactic sessions are available in the RST Video Repository.
Proposal Repository: K Awards: This Proposal Repository is designed as a reference for investigators seeking career development award funding. The Repository includes successfully funded applications submitted by CHLA investigators and aims to increase the likelihood of funding success. Some of the investigators have shared all or parts of their proposals on the site, and others have offered to provide information upon request. The Repository is available on the internal RST program SharePoint site. Please contact tecpad@chla.usc
