The Research Success Teams (RST) program equips early career investigators with the skills they need to become independently funded. By participating in RST activities, investigators receive specialized support to aid them in preparing and submitting competitive proposals for career development and research awards. RST facilitates:

  • Cohort Works in Progress meetings: RST participants are divided into distinct cohorts: Those aiming for NIH K Awards (K Cohort), and those who are K-funded, aiming for NIH R Awards (K to R Cohort). We convene regular meetings of these cohorts to discuss upcoming submissions and to share their Works in Progress specific aims. Each WIP session is allotted 45 minutes for participants to read the specific aims, discuss and provide feedback. Drafts are encouraged and nothing needs to be circulated in advance. We intend for these sessions to be informal and collegial, and we encourage you to join to provide feedback to your peers even if you are not presenting. WIP sessions are co-facilitated by CHLA senior investigators.
  • Didactic Sessions: These sessions are open to all RST participants and occur virtually on a bi-weekly basis over the course of the year. The sessions are informal and serve as an opportunity for focused learning and discussion around specific topics related to grant preparation and submission. Check the righthand panel for upcoming sessions.
  • Proposal Repository: K Awards: This Proposal Repository is designed as a reference for investigators seeking career development award funding. The Repository includes successfully funded applications submitted by CHLA investigators and aims to increase the likelihood of funding success. Some of the investigators have shared all or parts of their proposals on the site, and others have offered to provide information upon request. The Repository is available on the internal RST program SharePoint site.
