Event Details

In this session, we explore the importance of ensuring biomedical study samples and data that are inclusive of a wide range of participants. We also examine the challenges associated with recruiting diverse study participants. Finally, we explore the importance of ensuring cultural competence when interacting with participants from historically marginalized groups (e.g., race/ethnicity, religion, gender, identity, sexual orientation, and ableism).

 Learning Objectives

  • Explain the importance of justice in sampling and in data obtained.
  • Examine the limitations to research results created by under and overinclusive samples and data
  • Describe the role cultural competence plays in ensuring participation from members of historically marginalized groups
