This project is a DHS-wide initiative by the departments of Obstetrics and Gynecology to identify and get buy-in and input from stake holders to create internal expected practices for preoperative workups and management of common procedures for gynecologic patients. The overarching goal is to shift surgical resources to those who truly need it, by reducing non-value-added procedures and unnecessary testing, which aligns with the strategic goals to improve quality of care, to improve patient satisfaction and to reduce costs. The intervention will be working across DHS Gynecology Departments to develop and implement internal expected practices for common gynecologic conditions. Outcome measures will look at: patient outcomes, number and types of studies and tests ordered, the number of procedures recommended, wait times for those procedures, and provider buy-in and uptake.
