Hispanic youth are disproportionately impacted by substance abuse, HIV and mental health problems (Prado et al., 2006), yet a lack of evidence-based behavioral health programs and practices exist to address culturally based risk factors related to these negative outcomes (Cervantes, et al., 2011). The current study will conduct a pilot study of the revised Familia Adelante – Revised (FA-R) as compared to the original curriculum (FA) at one study site. Through an experimental research design with Hispanic target population families (N=20 families), the goal is to finalize the implementation procedures and prepare the intervention for a larger RCT study.
