In order to address the disparities between Latinas and non-Hispanic Whites in the number of screenings, vaccinations and diagnoses of invasive cervical cancer, the research team has developed two films, “The Tamale Lesson” and “It’s Time”, which utilize the oral tradition present in Latino culture, to convey important information about cervical cancer and the HPV vaccine. The study team will now develop Spanish language versions of the films and conduct a randomized trial to evaluate their effectiveness.
