Mobile health (mHealth) intervention that has the potential to improve health through cost-effective programs that reach patients through the phones they already carry in their pockets. TExT-MED (Trial to Examine Text Message for Emergency Department Patients with Diabetes) is a 6 month randomized control trial designed to examine the impact mHealth can have on the diabetes management of low-income, inner city Latinos. To better understand how TExT-MED interacts with patients’ perceived barriers to behavior change, perceived threat of disease and behavior triggers to impact disease management, we will undertake a series of focus groups and complete a qualitative analysis of TExT-MED.
