The objectives of this pilot study are to assess the feasibility of implementation and to collect preliminary effectiveness data on the health and well-being benefits for older adults of a newly developed intergenerational activity program, Art Through the AgesSM (ATTA). The ATTA Intervention is designed to be an intergenerational win-win, providing children with high-quality, standards-based art education believed to promote the development of cognitive processing skills essential to 21st century success, and older adult ATTA volunteers with an opportunity to engage in a generative role characterized by health-promoting social, cognitive and physical activity. The ATTA Pilot Study will collect implementation feasibility and preliminary effectiveness data on benefits for older adult volunteers (expected n = 44) from the implementation of the program in two elementary schools during the 2013-2014 school year in the Los Angeles area.
