SC CTSI Role
Allison is a Clinical Research Informaticist who bridges clinical, research, and technical perspectives to help teams navigate complex data and technology needs. At SC CTSI, much of Allison's work focuses on curating clinical information for research. Drawing on her clinical and Electronic Health Records (EHR) experience, she interprets source data in the context of the systems and workflows that produced it to develop data-driven definitions of clinical concepts. She also investigates data and workflow challenges while supporting the development and testing of informatics solutions for research.

Professional Background
Allison began her career as a registered nurse before moving into clinical informatics, where she developed a deep understanding of how clinical workflows and EHR systems shape the way healthcare data is captured. Her work gradually expanded from designing and optimizing those systems to helping clinicians and researchers understand and use data generated through clinical care. At the Children's Hospital Association, Allison worked with pediatric healthcare data, helping researchers translate study criteria into computable definitions for patient cohorts. Her current role in Informatics brings together the experiences and perspectives she has developed across clinical care, health informatics, and clinical data.
Interests
Allison enjoys exploring Los Angeles with her husband, keeping an eye out for the occasional celebrity, and spending time with her two Siamese cats.
