Dr. Kelley-Quon serves as an Instructor for the Mentor Training Program within SC CTSI Workforce Development, where she supports the career development of early-stage faculty as they transition toward research independence. In this role, she mentors faculty in developing focused research programs, navigating academic career development, and building competitive portfolios for extramural funding. Dr. Kelley-Quon also leads lectures as part of the program’s annual lecture series, sharing practical strategies and lessons learned in mentorship, research career development, and grant-funded investigation.

Professional Background
Dr. Kelley-Quon is a pediatric surgeon and an Associate Professor of Surgery (Clinical Scholar) and Population and Public Health Sciences at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and the University of Southern California. She obtained her B.S. in Biochemistry and Cell Biology at the University of California, San Diego and completed her M.D. and General Surgery training at the University of California, Los Angeles followed by a fellowship in Pediatric Surgery at Nationwide Children’s Hospital at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.
During residency, she completed the Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Program and obtained a Master’s in Health Services Research from the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health. Dr. Kelley-Quon is the Principal Investigator of the Health Outcomes and Policy Effects (HOPE) Lab at CHLA. Her research focuses on understanding the health implications of prescription opioid use for infants, children, and adolescents and is funded by the National Institutes of Health, the Southern California Clinical and Translational Science Institute, and the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute.

Lorraine enjoys paddleboarding, wine tasting, and walking her rescue puppy, Max.
