Senior Research Informatics Analyst

Maryam works closely with investigators across USC who are interested in leveraging electronic health record (EHR) data for their research. She facilitates the extraction process for Keck patient data and provides consultation, training and education for the Clinical Research Informatics core’s tools and services. Maryam is also involved in the development and optimization of informatics tools deployed by the team. Lastly, Maryam is one of the REDCap administrators overseeing 9,000+ REDCap users across USC and CHLA. She provides technical support and comprehensive database design services for clinical and research projects in REDCap.

Professional Background
Maryam received her BA in Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). She began working with EHR data in her role as Chief Medical Scribe at the UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Behavior. In this role, Maryam worked closely with clinicians and patients to document clinical details and enhance clinical workflows in both inpatient and outpatient settings. She was concurrently involved in protocol design, data analysis, and database management for several research studies in the department. Maryam subsequently began working as a Clinical Research Data Analyst at the UCLA CTSI Biomedical Informatics Program, where she leveraged her clinical EHR knowledge to provide consultation services to hundreds of investigators looking to utilize patient EHR data in their research.

Maryam loves going to the beach, going to concerts and trying new restaurants.
