Melissa oversees all aspects of patient and research-related care, serving as a liaison between patients’ physicians and the research team. She supports all phases of clinical research and plays an active role in clinical operations and study management. Her clinical responsibilities include providing general and preventive care, conducting physical exams and protocol-specific assessments, prescribing medications, and monitoring patients’ responses to treatment. As a key member of the multidisciplinary team, Melissa also recruits study participants, collects data, and contributes her clinical expertise to protocol development and implementation from study initiation through completion.

Professional Background
Melissa brings an extensive background in science, which includes a BS in Cellular and Molecular Biology and a MHS (Masters in Health Science) in Cancer and Reproductive Biology from Johns Hopkins University. She obtained a Masters in Nursing from California State University, Los Angeles specializing in Adult-Gerontology Primary Care. Her previous experience includes cardiovascular surgery, hepatobiliary surgery, and wound care. Melissa maintains an interest in clinical research fueled by the philosophy that research is the key to bridging the gap between the present and the future.

In her spare time, Melissa likes to read, watch movies, hike, and travel.
