Objective: To implement team science approaches to establish a new multidisciplinary and diverse team of experts to facilitate meaningful collaborations among USC researchers and industry with the goal to catalyze commercialization of regenerative medicine innovations at USC. Our specific aims will be:
- To develop a team charter with the multidisciplinary expert team;
- to offer a multidisciplinary seminar series on commercialization of regenerative medicine therapies; and
- to conduct focus groups to individually guide researchers on how to commercialize their regenerative medicine inventions.
The team consists of a multidisciplinary group of experts spanning regenerative medicine, stem cell biology, clinical translation, business development, technology commercialization, and intellectual property, alongside collaborators with strong industry and venture connections.
Team Building Activities include:
- Attendance of SC CTSI team science workshop: The PI and Co-PI attend a team science workshop and apply learned strategies to guide all subsequent team-building efforts.
- Develop a team charter with the core team: The team collaboratively develops a formal charter outlining goals, roles, structure, and key performance indicators for the academia–corporate alliance.
- Multidisciplinary seminar series: Monthly seminars provide training on startup creation, licensing/IP, and SBIR funding while fostering cross-institutional collaboration.
- Focus group to individually guide researchers towards commercialization of their regenerative medicine innovation: The team conducts focus groups to review technologies and provide tailored mentorship to researchers pursuing commercialization pathways.
