Abstract
Evidence-based interventions (EBIs) are programs, policies and practices that have been demonstrated to improve health outcomes in rigorous scientific studies. However, EBI implementation is low in community settings. Community-based organizations (CBOs) do not use EBIs because they have limited awareness on how to find, select, adapt and implement them. Existing implementation support program aimed at building CBO capacity to implement EBIs are often geared towards highly trained and well-resourced organizations.
The Implementation Studio (Studio) addresses this limitation providing a content that accommodates a range of health literacy levels and resources among CBOs. Evaluation of the Studio shows that participating CBOs have an increased capacity to implement and adopt EBIs. To accelerate EBI adoption in community settings, we will leverage the success of the Studio to create and evaluate a train-the-trainer Studio curriculum, with the ultimate goal of building a network of translational science workforce who are knowledgeable in facilitating the real-world implementation of EBIs by CBOs.
Aim 1 will develop a comprehensive train-the-trainer Implementation Studio curriculum that equips translational science workforce to train community-based organizations to find, select, adapt, implement evidence-based interventions. Aim 2 will evaluate the delivery of the Implementation Studio curriculum by the translational science workforce using a multi-level evaluation model.
