Background

Dr. Poblete completed his residency in Neurology at University of California, Davis in 2015. He then completed Neurocritical Care Fellowship at The University of Southern California in 2017 before joining faculty in the Department of Clinical Neurology and Division of Stroke & Neurocritical Care. His research is focused on understanding the role that lipid mediators of inflammation play in attenuating secondary brain injury after moderate-to-severe traumatic brain injury (TBI). Dr. Poblete will employ a parallel clinical and pre-clinical approach. In human models of TBI, he will characterize lipidomics after brain injury, while in an animal model, he will determine if specialized pro-resolving lipids of inflammation are effective as a potential drug therapy. Dr. Poblete’s current clinical practice is at Los Angeles County + USC Medical Center, a Level I Trauma Center delivering exceptional care to a heterogenous socioeconomic population.
