Background
Dr. Padula is an Assistant Professor (tenure-track) of Pharmaceutical & Health Economics in the University of Southern California School of Pharmacy, and Fellow in the Leonard D. Schaeffer Center for Health Policy & Economics. His research interests lie at the intersection of medical cost-effectiveness analysis and big data. As a SC-CTSI KL2 scholar, he is exploring the development of an algorithm to predict hospitalized patient pressure injury risk using electronic health records. He has conducted innovative research using machine learning methods to power comparative effectiveness research and economic evaluation studies pertaining to policy initiatives, drug pricing and surgical outcomes which have led to more than 100 scientific publications. He has served as President of the National Pressure Injury Advisory Panel (NPIAP), an Associate Editor of Value in Health, and is co-chair of the Machine Learning emerging good practices task force for the International Society of Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR).
