On November 20, 2025, the Research Development Core of SC CTSI hosted the First Team Science Celebration Event. Designed to honor the innovation and creativity that drives Team Science–research that involves multiple disciplines, multiple sectors and community partners– the day featured a keynote address on team creativity by Roni Reiter-Palmon, PhD from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, informational sessions from on-campus resources, and inspiring presentations from USC and CHLA research teams, some of which were funded projects by the SC CTSI.

To recognize the outstanding contributions of these teams, attendees voted to honor projects in three categories: Creativity and Innovation, Team Culture, and Team Growth.  Here are the awardees:

Team Science Awards

The Team Science Celebration event, in addition to our team science workshops and seminars throughout the year, aims to build community around team science. To help achieve this, awarded teams were granted a stipend to support team-building activities, such as a team dinner or gathering. Over 30 people attended the inaugural half-day Team Science Celebration Event, and a feedback survey and comments showed positive feedback. Building on this success, the Research Development team hopes to bring the event back for its second year in 2026 to continue showcasing, celebrating, and awarding research teams doing impactful work at USC and CHLA.
